Restorative Justice & Environmental Law. Opinion

RJI is pleased to share the following article written by recent law school graduate Eric Anthony DeBellis which appeared in the Stanford Environmental Law Journal (March 2016). The article is entitled “Implementing Supplemental Environmental Project Policies to Promote Restorative Justice.”

It is the view of RJI that restorative justice principles can apply anywhere there is injury, damage or violence. While countries outside the U.S. have already moved ahead applying restorative justice to public policies related to the environment and particularly environmental damage (e.g. New Zealand) we are encouraged to see this type of forward thinking as expressed by DeBellis.
