Who We Are & What we do
RJI is a global association & network of over 7100 members (to date) founded in 2009 by international justice expert Lisa Rea to support restorative justice efforts worldwide. The focus of our work is to promote and advocate for systemic justice reform based on victims-driven restorative justice. To find where we are the most active see Affiliate Members on this site. Learn about RJI’s Global Advisory Council (GAC) with 15 members from around the world committed to restorative justice and systemic justice reform. We are diverse!
Restorative justice principles must be incorporated into our public policies since justice systems are impacted by legislation written and supported by public officials. We are strong advocates for evidence-based research supporting the use of restorative justice. RJI is committed to victims-driven restorative justice which seeks to restore crime victims, as much as possible, as well as communities also injured by crime while urging offender accountability. RJI partners with its Affiliate members and others who support our efforts and seek to work with us in a robust manner around the world.
Some RJI members and affiliates represent the following countries: United Kingdom, United States, Ireland, India, Rwanda, Australia, Canada, Spain, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Greece, Zimbabwe and others. Join us, contribute to us and partner with us. We think big!
Thank you for viewing our short film introducing the work of Restorative Justice International. We wish to thank Russ Turner (Turner and Associates), and Therese Bartholomew (The Final Gift) for telling their powerful stories and supporting the work we do. We thank Martin Howard (Queensland, Australia) for his contribution to the work of RJI.
