RJI Partners with German Filmmaker: Invitation to Host Restorative Justice Film

June 2016
Restorative Justice International (RJI) invites you to view the trailer for Hubertus Siegert’s documentary on restorative justice processes entitled Beyond Punishment (S.U.M.O. Film, 2015). The film follows three separate restorative justice cases, one in Germany, one in the U.S. and one in Norway. It documents restorative justice processes and examines the complexity of interaction between crime victims and their offenders. Showing this thought-provoking film is a great way to introduce restorative justice and to stimulate deeper conversations about it in your community. We are excited to be partnering with filmmaker Hubertus Siegert and know that when you watch the trailer you will see how important the film is to the work we do.
The film is not yet released in Germany, but is available for educational purposes and events through Restorative Justice International.  We are very excited to offer it to you. The film has two versions available:  52 minutes or 98 minutes.  If you would like to host a showing of the film the cost is $300.  By showing this film you will also be contributing to the work of RJI. A small portion of the proceeds goes to support RJI.  This is a one-time fee and the film can only be shown once.
We invite you to view the trailer and contact us if you are interested in hosting a showing.  We encourage you to consider including a victims’ panel discussion after the showing. RJI often coordinates victims’ panel which are comprised of crime victims who have stories to tell about why they support restorative justice and the value it has provided to them. RJI can assist you with the victims’ panel  including sending a RJI representative to speak. Expenses related to assisting with a victims’ panel would need to be covered by the hosting organization.
The filmmaker understands that decision-makers may want to view the entire film first. If you would like to do so you would receive a five-day pass allowing a single streamed on-line viewing of the show.  For now, please view the trailer. If you have questions or are ready to book the film contact RJI restorativejusticeinternational@charter.net.

We hope you take advantage of this great opportunity to host a showing of this excellent film. Thank you.
