Poland Professor Barbara Janusz-Pohl Appointed to Global Advisory Council (May 2023)

RJI has announced the appointment of Professor Barbara Janusz-Pohl, Department of Criminal Procedure, Faculty of Law and Administration at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland.

Professor Janusz-Polhl’s extensive experience includes launching a one-year project on mediation in court proceedings in Poland and Hungary in 2022, and leading a 7-person Polish-Hungarian team, which resulted in a monograph and six scientific articles (in print).

She heads the research platform Effective Justice International and Comparative Approaches, one of the research areas includes the issue of abbreviated and restorative proceedings, including restorative justice mechanisms. Professor Janusz-Pohl has devoted the last 20 years to research in criminal procedure and criminal law, and now restorative justice.

“RJI is thrilled to add Professor Barbara Janusz-Pohl to our Global Advisory Council team,” said RJI President Lisa Rea. “RJI just participated in an April justice seminar in Poznan, Poland moderated by Professor Janusz-Pohl and hosted by the Effective Justice International and Comparative Approaches. We see a lot of excitement in Poland for restorative justice, and a hunger to learn more about its use and application globally.”
