New Zealand: Restorative Justice is a Priority

Hear this interview with General Manager Mike Hinton of Restorative Justice Aotearoa who speaks about the need to make restorative justice available to all crime victims. The more victims have the option to participate in restorative justice the more they choose to meet their offenders.
Victim satisfaction is higher after victims participate in restorative justice than in the traditional justice system. Offenders are more likely to learn and understand the impact their actions (and their crimes) have had on real human beings—their victims.  Evidence based research shows offender recidivism rates are lower when offenders take responsibility for their crimes through restorative justice.
