Hate crimes & restorative justice: Mark Walters podcast (UK) (March 2018 aired)

RJI is pleased to share the following podcast as we speak to Dr. Mark Walters, an international expert on the use of restorative justice with hate crimes. Mark is a professor of Criminal Law and Criminology at the University of Sussex in the UK. His important and groundbreaking evidence-based research is critical to understanding how to apply restorative principles to the increasing number of hate crimes in Europe, in the U.S. and around the world.
RJI is particularly interested in how lawmakers can use restorative justice principles when considering public policy changes in law to respond to victims of hate crimes in ways that bring a level of restoration and healing while seeking to hold offenders accountable.
Dr. Walters is also co-founder and co-director of the International Network for Hate Crimes. Find his work at the following link: http://www.sussex.ac.uk/profiles/112655
