We are glad to see restorative justice mentioned by the Ministry of Justice in Colombia and share this news story with you. (April 2017). After violence of any kind a measure of healing is possible in the lives of the victims when restorative justice processes are implemented. Offender accountability is important for the victims so that they know that individually, as much as possible, offenders take responsibility for their actions. Restorative justice that is victims centered and victims driven can be applied in the micro and in the macro. But there must be a commitment to recognize injury sustained and move towards a place that allows for greater healing of victims and communities while holding offenders accountability in real ways that lead to changed lives.
